Most people trust the water that comes out of their faucets at home, assuming that it must be safe for them and their families to drink. Truth is that the water supply is full of chemicals and other pollutants, none of which are dangerous, but they are not exactly beneficial either.
Luckily, there are water filtration devices which are easy to use in the home and which can filter all these unwanted ingredients out of your water supply. Choose between one of the many methods of water filtration, or use two or three in combination for the purest drinking water possible.
It is impossible to tell if the water from your faucets is clean just by looking at it. Even water that is full of chlorine or pesticides will still look clear and refreshing. The only way to be sure is either to test it in a laboratory, to ensure that it meets government agency standards, or to filter it.
Many people assume that boiling water makes it completely safe to drink. While it will help, as the high temperatures kill off any bacteria in the water supply, this will not get rid of some of the more stubborn chemical pollutants. In an emergency, boiling water is a good way to make water as pure as possible, for example while walking in remote areas, but it is only really devices that filter and purify the water direct from the faucet that can achieve the absolute cleanliness that most people demand for their families.
Even then, home owners have a choice between different kinds of filter systems or they can be extra cautious and invest in two or three to work together. The most common kinds of filtration systems are carbon filters, distillers and systems which use reverse osmosis. In the home, using distillers and carbon filters in tandem is the most popular choice, as the distiller removes the solid particles from the water while the carbon filter extracts unpleasant gases from the steam.
In residential properties, these devices can be tucked away under the kitchen sink so they do not clutter up the kitchen, purifying the water at the source before it comes out of your faucets. In the case of commercial units, it is more appropriate to install the device where the water supply enters the building. This way all the tenants have filtered water and not just those who thought to buy a filtration system themselves.
